Your very good health: the NHS at 60
01/07/2008
Sixty years ago the NHS was born, bringing free cradle to grave healthcare for everyone in Britain. If he were alive today, its architect, Nye Bevan, would undoubtedly be proud of its achievements. According to the Department of Health:
- the average life expectancy in the UK today is at least 10 years longer than in 1948
- deaths from heart disease and cancer have decreased dramatically
- Britain is one of the safest places in the world to give birth
*goodpractice is proud to provide every member of NHS staff in Scotland with access to our online leadership and management toolkits. We wish everyone in the NHS a Happy Birthday and every continued success.
